Project: Fiber Optic Cable - 48 Inch Gas Pipe Line Abadan - Basrah

Description :

Petroleum  and Electric Ministries  of Iraq are developing and implementing  48″ and 16″ Gas Pipeline Project. The objective of the Project is to Design, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning of all required facilities (Such as pipeline, LBV station, Gas reducing station and all other related equipment) to transport the natural gas from IRAN to IRAQ. This  pipeline (Main  route)  will  be  constructed  from  ABADAN  to  SHATT  AL-BASRAH, AL-NAJIBIYIA, RUMAILAH Electrical power station and RUMAILAH Compressor station. It is a branch of IGAT-VI pipeline. The length of this pipeline is about 94 km, its diameter is 48″ and the design pressure is 1400 psi. The 16″ pipe line is about 11.5 Km will be branched from main line to AL-NAJIBIYIA electrical power station. The main route branches as the following pipelines:

AL-NAJIBIYIA Branch :

AL-NAJIBIYIA 16″ pipeline will be branched from main pipe line to AL-NAJIBIYIA electrical power station. The design pressure of this branch is 1050 psi. AL-NAJIBIYIA pressure control station will be constructed  the start point of this branch and reduce the design pressure from 1400 psi to 1050 psi. AL-NAJIBIYIA  gas reducing station will be constructed  to reduce the pressure to 40 bar (588psi).

SHATT AL-BASRAH Branch :

SHATT AL-BASRAH 36″ pipeline will be branched from main pipe line to Shatt AL-Basrah electrical power station. The design pressure is 1400 psi. SHATT AL-BASRAH  gas reducing station will be constructed in this branch to reduce the pressure to 40 bar (588psi).

RUMAILAH Branch :

RUMAILAH 36″ pipeline will be branched from main pipe line to RUMAILAH electrical power station. The design pressure is 1400 psi. RUMAILAH gas reducing station will be constructed in this branch to reduce the pressure to 40 bar (588psi).

Activities

Fiber Optic Cable implementation in common trench with Gas Pipe line, according to Omnisense factory procedure(Include: sand soil under & up the FOC, installation FOC, warning tape, backfill and FOC Tests, program and install electronic markers, install 3M(2178s) FOC Enclosures).

This FOC will use for Gas leak detection and intrusion system(GLDS) The 24 core FOC has made Nexans factory from Grecce.
